BITCHSLAP! RELOADED |
 |
| 08/01/2008: Patrick Dream, Sydney Blu & TK Tear Up Fly. |
TORONTO -- Friday, January 18th, join the Bitchslap! family for Reloaded at Fly Nightclub. This 12th installment in the special event series features Bitchslap! resident DJs Sydney Blu and TK, plus special guest, Patrick Dream!
Patrick, born in India but transplanted to Canada at the age of four, started DJing and organising events and club nights in 1991 in Toronto, and made the move to Montreal in 1994. Over the next five years, Patrick held residencies at all the major clubs in Montreal and flew around the country and select international destinations sharpening his DJ skills. In 1999, Patrick scribbled the name Bombay Records on the back of an envelope and from there set out to build Montreals first truly international House Music Label. Along with business partner DJ Nav, and a host of Montreal Producers (Fred Everything, Miguel Graca etc.), Patrick built Bombay Records into one of the most prolific house labels ever to come out of Canada.
In early 2005 Patrick found that being identified as the head honcho of a prominent Deep house label was somewhat limiting for an artist whose Djing, song and remix productions tended to have a more hard-edge club-inspired sound; so Patrick sold his shares in Bombay to concentrate on being a Producer-DJ.

BITCHSLAP! PRESENTS |
|
| 13/11/2007: Sydney Blu's Birthday Soirée |
TORONTO -- Friday, November 23rd, join the Bitchslap! family at Footwork for a very special installment of the special event series: Sydney Blu’s Birthday Soirée! We’re pulling out all the stops for a full-on night of birthday action featuring Bitchslap! resident DJs Sydney Blu and TK, alongside Exacta returning for another dose of his electrifying NYC beats, plus we have an extra-special live performance from homegrown EDM darling, Mandy J.
Taking his name by predicting the finish of horse races in ‘exacta’ bets, DJ Exacta started out as a hip-hop DJ from Queens, gracing the turntables for celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Heidi Klum and P Diddy. It wasn’t long before Exacta went from hip-hop to house, quickly gaining notoriety and emerging as one of the most talked about house DJs, playing alongside the likes of Erick Morillo, Pete Tong, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold and Armand Van Helden. His success has taken him all over the world, spinning everywhere from his Pacha (NYC) residency, to Godskitchen (UK) to Crobar (Miami) and Fly (Toronto), showcasing a sublime selection of upfront house that spans everything from deep to tribal to tech cuts in breathtaking and daring sets.
In summer 2006, Roger Sanchez broke Exacta's vocal remake of the classic ‘Pride (A Deeper Love)’ in his Essential Mix, followed up by releases of ‘Set Me Free’ and ‘You Keep Calling Me’. Since, Exacta has been sought out for his remix work by superstars such as Nelly Furtado and Madonna.
Exacta’s two latest offerings, ’Stuck on Your Love’ and ‘Do What I Wanna Do’ demolished the Winter Music Conference 2007 and are currently being hammered by the likes of Erick Morillo and David Guetta. Due to this success, Exacta plans to release his first solo album, ‘Soul Survivor’, in October, 2007 on his very own Double Frequency Records. [http://www.myspace.com/djexacta; http://www.doublefrequencyrecords.com]
Sydney Blu is Canada's foremost female DJ and a co-creator of Bitchslap!. She performs regularly all over North America and Mexico. With production partner Fabio Palermo, she has remixed for numerous labels including Hibias Records, PBR Recordings, Robeter Productions, COF Music, and Rawthentic Music to name a few. Their latest offering, a remix of the new club banger “L.O.V.E. Machine” released on Double Frequency Records, is out now and enjoying airplay worldwide. She has also collaborated on signature bootleg remixes and a number of original tracks (also co-written by Toronto vocalist Mandy J and lined up for international release). In 2007 she will release her highly anticipated full length artist album on Hibias Records, with a tour to follow. [http://www.sydneyblu.com]
DJTK, a long-time favourite of Toronto's gay community (both Fab Magazine and Xtra! Magazine’s readership voted her their favourite local DJ in 2005), has become a fixture in the city’s afterhours scene, with residencies at Footwork and The Comfort Zone. An accomplished film music producer, 2007 saw TK producing original music for documentary films: "The Metroscope" (a project of the National Film Board) , as well as more EDM (electronic dance music) production. With countless shady remixes and original beats being turned out to clubbers' delight, TK looks forward to a digital releases becoming available this fall. She is also a regular contributor to Scenester Magazine. [http://www.djtk.net]
Mandy J is a singer, songwriter, and wicked free-stylist, known for her ability to grab the mic in any club and throw down lyrics that flow as though written years ago. She has lent her amazing voice and writing talents to numerous producers and DJs including the 2005 Juno Award nominated "Ghetto Love" collaboration with Hatiras and "Love for the Weekend" with DJ Dan on Blow Media.
Since opening its doors in May of 2005, Footwork has earned a reputation for delivering quality parties, covering every genre of the electronic dance scene. In just a short time, Footwork has carved its niche and filled the void of intimate nightclubs in Toronto. Nestled conveniently between Toronto’s commercial club district and the thriving King West community, it’s a unique environment offering the best of the underground.

TORONTO -- Friday, October 19th, join the Bitchslap! family at Fly Nightclub for the 10th installment in the
special event series, featuring Bitchslap! resident DJs Sydney Blu and TK, plus special guest Danny Torrence!
While keeping in step with his own brand of dark and sexy House, Montreal-based DJ Danny Torrence believes that all good records should be mixed regardless of the genre. It is this instilled belief that allows him to uplift, inspire and rock the dance floor like few others. Danny’s artistic vision is exceedingly broad, touching on many different styles including deep house, tribal and techno. All of these elements combined are what makes Danny’s fans describe him as “powerful and eclectic”. [http://www.dannytorrence.com]

TORONTO -- Friday, September 14th, join the Bitchslap! family at Footwork for the 9th installment in the special event series, featuring Bitchslap! resident DJs Sydney Blu and TK, plus special guest Peter Presta!
Brooklyn born producer / DJ, Peter Presta has produced tracks for many major & independent labels around the globe. Including Heather Small's popular dance single, "Proud." That record skyrocketed to the top of the dance charts after being featured on the final episode of "Queer As Folk". Presta also founded Apple Jaxx Recordings, based out of the United Kingdom. Although producing & remixing primarily in the UK, Presta has won over audiences worldwide with his skill as a DJ. He enjoys a wide variety of club music, but would best classify his DJ sound as very progressive, heavy on the tracks with a bit of booming vocals. [www.peterpresta.com]

JaXx HouZe No. 4 |
| 02/04/2007: TORONTO, ONTARIO – April 28, 2007 |
JaXx HouZe No. 4 - Enchanted Tribal Platoon is an annual event, now embarking on its fourth installment of this ever so popular Tribal dance series. JaXx HouZe is infamous for bringing back the original meaning of House music; peace, unity and respect upon nations – no matter your nationality, sexual preference, ethnicity or nationality. Music is a universal language. JaXx HouZe's purpose is to remind people of the power music has on us all in a universal way...
JaXx HouZe No. 4 - Enchanted Tribal Platoon will explode for the fourth time Saturday April 28, 2007 at The Gallery located inside The Guvernment Entertainment Complex at 1 Jarvis Street South at Queens Quay. Doors: 11PM.
This JaXx HouZe will showcase the best Canadian DJs who know how to pump out the best in Tribal House. This season's Soldiers on Deck are; irGo, TJ, DJ:TK and Nathan Barato.
Last winter's JaXx House No. 3 Enchanted Tribal Platoon was one of the most talked about parties bringing together under one roof different sexual orientations; gay, lesbian, straight bi-sexual and undecided.
The Gallery holds 250 people and will be turned once again into an Enchanted Tribal Platoon. The tented area within The Gallery will be the holding bunker for the dancing platoons to rest. Colours of black, army green, black and red velvet all combined will create an atmosphere of pure platoon delight.
The décor will feel like an enchanted tent with green and black balloons strewn about the floor and ceiling, toy soldiers everywhere within the venue, along with army paraphernalia everyone can play with and take a souvenir home with them as they have for all of the JaXx HouZe events. Not one piece of paraphernalia has been left behind! It's now custom to ensure you grab your souvenir whether it be an animal, reptile or army paraphernalia, it earns you bragging rights that you were at an Official JaXx HouZe – Enchanted Tribal Platoon event.
JaXx HouZe was Founded by Miss Raquel (Scenester Magazine, host/co-producer of "electronica" on bpm:tv, PPM, CZ, The Guvernment Nightclub and Slurpy Radio), Nathan Barato (DJ/Producer, Rawthentic Records) and Reza. Together these music lovers took the true meaning of House music and created an event for all races, nationalities and sexual orientations and originated a party the way it should be; a night of delightful décor, unique, unisex dress code (sexy army fatiques), with a diversified group of up and coming DJs right to the industry's most affluent DJs/Producers.
JaXx HouZe No. 4 – Enchanted Tribal Platoon's Official Sponsors are; Slurpy Radio, House Addict, bpm:tv and Scenester Magazine.
The dress code is; sexy army fatigues. The bartenders will be dressed in sexy G.I. Jane costumes, the guest list girl will be outfitted in army fatigues and standing beside her a handsome Mountie ensuring protocol is in order.
Commanding Officers: Miss Raquel & Nathan Barato
Commanding Generals: The Diva Contraire (PPM), ClubStan & TullyTune,
Soldiers on Deck and their detonation times are:
1. irGO – 11PM – 1AM
2. TJ – 1AM – 2:30AM
3. Nathan Barato – 2:30AM – 4AM
4. DJ:TK – 4AM – 6AM
The importance of JaXx HouZe No. 4– Enchanted Tribal Platoon is to bring back the original meaning of House music but with a Tribal twist. JaXx HouZe is a party with a carefully selected group of DJs coming together and pumping it out for the pure love of Tribal House.
Many clubbers in 'the scene' want quality, themed parties to go to where costumes are worn, with several DJs to listen to, and where the vibe consists of no sexual, cultural, or racial prejudice.
JaXx HouZe invites you back to the underground…within the dark and sexy Gallery. And an antelope lovingly named, Warhol who observes above the DJ Booth (he will be sporting an army cap and dog tags!). |
